3. The collective memory

The subject of the collective memory might be one of the greatest challenges in light of a limited and individual awareness, in the time where the region is passing through an intensive and rapid death today, a time where evanescence and sudden death are not anymore the same common concepts, that could be absorbed and understood later by history, but they are still happening and they cannot be grasped.

Hence, comes the importance of works related to preserving concrete and abstract memory, and the theoretical aspect of the collective memory issue. However, the importance of this book goes beyond the circumstantial benefits, already mentioned, to reach the absolute knowledge benefit, as to get acquainted to one of the forms of social sciences writing, in particular, the French one, that is no longer common, it comes from a context that existed in early 20th century in France.
